Job Description: Welder/Fabricator (ASME Experience)
We are seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator with ASME certification and expertise to join our team in a fast-paced job shop environment. As a Welder/Fabricator, you will play a key role in producing high-quality welded components and fabrications in accordance with client specifications and industry standards. Position Summary:
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for welding, cutting, and assembling metal parts and structures to specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with welding processes, knowledge of ASME standards, and the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. You will be responsible for ensuring all work meets quality standards and complies with relevant safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform a variety of welding and fabrication tasks including MIG, TIG, Stick welding, and other techniques to ASME code and other industry standards.
* Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine fabrication specifications, material requirements, and welding processes.
* Fabricate metal components and assemblies, using cutting, grinding, and welding techniques to meet design specifications.
* Ensure all welds are completed in accordance with ASME standards and other applicable codes, ensuring the highest level of quality.
* Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and safety standards, making adjustments or rework as needed.
* Operate fabrication machinery, including plasma cutters, band saws, and drills, safely and efficiently.
* Work closely with engineering and project management teams to resolve any issues or discrepancies related to welding and fabrication.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines and best practices.
* Keep detailed records of completed work, including weld certifications, material usage, and any deviations from plans or specifications.
* Assist in maintaining equipment, tools, and materials in good working order.
Qualifications:
* Experience : 5+ years of experience as a Welder/Fabricator, including experience with ASME welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section IX, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code).
* Certifications : Current ASME welding certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire) is required. Additional certifications in welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) are a plus.
* Technical Skills : Expertise in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick), metal fabrication, and blueprint reading.
* Knowledge : Strong understanding of welding symbols, metallurgy, heat treatment, and safety protocols.
* Attention to Detail : Ability to ensure that all work meets strict quality standards and complies with applicable codes.
* Physical Requirements : Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
* Problem-Solving Skills : Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to address any challenges during the fabrication or welding process.
* Safety : Experience working in a safety-conscious environment, with a solid understanding of safety procedures and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in a job shop or custom fabrication setting.
* Experience with stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other specialty materials.
* Knowledge of industry-specific codes, such as AWS (American Welding Society) and other relevant safety standards.
* Ability to operate and read CNC equipment and other advanced fabrication machinery.
