Job Description

This position is responsible for growing significant philanthropic financial revenue with prospective and current donors in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego (RMHC-SD). Under the guidance of the Director of Corporate and Community Philanthropy Director, the Officer will manage annual signature events such as Red Shoe Day San Diego, the Annual Golf Invitational, and Dinner with Friends as well as develop partnerships with corporate and community groups by implementing strategies to cultivate new revenue opportunities for RMHC-SD. This position will also provide various administrative duties to the Corporate & Community Philanthropy Director. 

Essential Functions:

Philanthropy

  • Provide recommendations in creating the department business plan, which includes fundraising events, donor stewardship activities, fundraisers, and cause marketing campaigns 
  • Research, identify and evaluate prospective donors for RMCH-SD Signature, Third Party, Corporate & Community events, and Cause Marketing campaigns
  • Increase revenue for Corporate/Community donors, and signature events as assigned in SMART Goals and outlined in the Corporate/Community Philanthropy budget by 5 percent (+/_) annually
  • Lead sponsorship recruitment, benefit fulfillment, and retention of and corporate sponsors
  • Serve as primary management for assigned community & corporate service projects and volunteer opportunities at the Ronald McDonald House and off-site
  • Research and explore funding opportunities through corporate and community partners to increase revenue for RMHC-SD

Events

  • Plans and manages timelines, ROS, and budgets for RMCH-SD Signature, events, third party events, and cause marketing campaigns as assigned. 
  • Manage all event logistics, budgets, fundraising, and marketing for RMHC-SD events such as Red Shoe Day San Diego, the Annual Golf Invitational, and Dinner with Friends with oversight from Corporate & Community Philanthropy Director
  • Regularly manages multiple contractors, consultants, vendors, event committees, and volunteers
  • Supports the Director of Corporate and Community Philanthropy on the Annual Gala and the Giving Together stewardship event
  • Manages House Operations employees for events held at RMHC-SD, as well as identify and manage family speakers
  • Oversees Corporate & Community Philanthropy Coordinator to solicit silent/live auctions for events

Administration

  • Participate in interviews with new employees, vendors, contractors, and consultants and has input in the selection process
  • Manage data input and projects in fundraising and donor management systems as well as event, marketing and other internal reports. 
  • Communicates efficiently, both verbally and in writing, with a range of constituencies, including employees, trustees, volunteers, event committee members and donors
  • Support a wide range of projects in other departments as needed
  • Negotiates and manages contractor, consultant, and vendor rates of pay, hours worked, and grievances or complaints as well as apportioning the respective work and job duties
  • Trains new and existing employees, vendors, contractors, and consultants and determines work techniques as well as determines the types of equipment and materials to be used in performing work
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills while working as part of a small team environment
  • Monitors work for legal or regulatory compliance
  • Provides for safety and security of the workplace
  • Work occasional weekend and evening events
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of event planning or program management experience 
  • Knowledge and experience with fundraising database and platforms. Salesforce and Classy experience preferred. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook) suites and Adobe 
  • Proficient in Digital Media Content
  • Highly efficient research and writing skills, preparing, and submitting reports
  • Social Media proficiency preferred
  • Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extensive periods of time.
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required; must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to adjust personal work schedule to meet current work demands of the position
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and remain flexible in thinking and decision-making in changing situations
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with House Guests, donors, supervisory staff, co-workers, vendors, and public/media
