DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Carpentry Assistant to join our team!  The ideal candidate will assist our carpentry department with various woodworking tasks, while also helping with general maintenance items at our shop.

This is a full time hourly position with a range of $15.00 to $18.00 an hour, depending on experience (carpentry or maintenance background is preferred).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete assigned tasks accurately, timely, and to Austin quality standards.
• Assist with daily tasks including measuring, cutting, milling, and assembling wood.
• Carry out facility maintenance tasks such as changing lights and air filters, putting down new paper in the spray room, building new work tables as needed, etc. 
• Maintain all tools in good repair.
• Ensure that work complies with safety standards.
• Continually improve through training and practice.
• Drive company vehicles as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Must have a reliable means of transportation.
• Must have a smartphone.
• Must speak English.

Physical Requirements : This position requires incumbents to routinely stand for up to 10 hours a day and for long periods of time, stoop or crouch, lift up to 80 lbs at a time, endure hot and cold temperatures while working, work outside, work while wearing cumbersome protective equipment, walk, perform repetitive hand and arm motions, be able to see near and far distances, respond quickly to sounds, and climb ladders and raised platforms while carrying materials or equipment. There may be days where this position will require wearing a respirator for up to 10 hours a day due to being exposed to lead paint with historic windows.
