**10563BR** **PRS Facility Location:** Montgomery, AL MOW - 080 **Job Purpose:** This position is responsible to operate various hand-welding and flame-cutting equipment to weld, fabricate or join work pieces together. For more information, visit and follow @Progress_Rail on Twitter and YouTube. **Education / Training:** - HSD or GED required. **Job Title:** Welder II **City:** Montgomery **Key Job Elements:** - Pass internal welding certification in conjunction with requirements under ISO, AAR, and other regulatory agencies; - Retrieve materials assembled and weld into a finished product; - Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements); - Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded; - Interpret welding blueprints, assembly instructions, drawings, JSA's, and bills of material; - Maintaining welding proficiency as required by Progress Rail QSP 4.9 as well as any applicable local and international standards; - Candidate must be able to accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, and calipers. Must be able to measure and record the required inspection information; - Candidate must be able to use various hand tools as well as pneumatic and electric powered grinders and impact wrenches, as well as overhead cranes to transport components into and out of the work area. **Offering a $2500.00 sign on bonus** **Qualifications and Experience:** Required: - Skill Level II - 1-2 year of experience as a welder. Preferred: - Certified Welder; - Knowledge of various types of welding (Mig, MMA, Stick, Tig); - Mechanical aptitude. Essential and Physical Activities Functions: - Strength - Ability to lift, push pull up to 50lbs repeatedly - Motion - Employee will stand for majority of the shift, will kneel, squat, stooping, overhead reach and climb step multiple times throughout the day - Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to hear and see parts as they are machined, looking, and listening for deficiencies and machinery malfunctions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally - Work Environment - The majority of the time will be indoors, in non-temperature-controlled environments. Position is exposed to oils, lubricants and other substances used in the machining process - Emotional Demands - Position requires employees to be vigilant to ensure safety of everyone in the area. Requires decisions on the proper operation of machine - Safety - Position is a safety sensitive position.
