Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) , founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service. Father Edmund A. Walsh, S.J.'s vision was a school that would prepare students for all major forms of foreign representation - official and unofficial, governmental and private sector, whether commercial, financial, consular or diplomatic.
The
Web Content Producer develops and maintains the online presence for Georgetown's Walsh School of Foreign Service. They are responsible for ongoing web development, content production, and maintenance, as well as meeting the university's accessibility policy, user experience design, and search engine and site speed performance optimizations for the primary web properties of SFS and its undergraduate/graduate programs and affiliated centers/institutes. This position will work with stakeholders across SFS business units as a member of the SFS Communications team to ensure that primary business objectives tied to online properties are successfully met and essential platform standards are maintained. The Web Content Producer will also track metrics and analytics and provide ongoing regular analysis and context on the main site's performance. The SFS affiliated websites represent cornerstones of our brand and act as the hub for all of our paid and earned media efforts, prospective student engagement, current student and faculty communications, and alumni community engagement. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
- As a key staff member on a Year 1 project, consolidate the SFS flagship site and multiple program websites onto a single, newly designed WordPress theme, overseeing ongoing content management and maintenance of the new SFS website.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all content updates to, and governance of the new, centralized SFS website.
- Work closely with the Web Services team in University Information Services (UIS) to ensure SFS's website functionality and design needs work with the University's central WordPress codebase.
- Monitor Google Analytics (GA4), SiteImprove, and other server and site performance tools as necessary to ensure that Section 508 compliance standards and core website performance standards are maintained.
- Act as a nimble, creative web professional with a desire to work toward the mission of a nonprofit university in the digital space.
Work Interactions The Web Content Producer reports to the SFS Executive Director of External Relations and Marketing and works closely and collaboratively with the central SFS Communications team, the SFS Dean's Office and multiple stakeholders across all SFS business units. The Web Content Producer will also work closely with the UIS Web Services team on the project to create the new SFS website, and will interact with members of the MarTech team (a central team at Georgetown working on marketing + technology issues) throughout that project.
Requirements and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in website content management, front-end programming, and/or digital marketing
- Strong experience with at least one enterprise web content management system, preferably WordPress
- Intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS and their application within a centrally-managed WordPress environment
- Experience ensuring and maintaining Section 508 web accessibility in compliance with WCAG 2.2
- Experience in responsive web design and mobile-first methodologies with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in the use of design software for web development such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Experience Designer, and/or Figma
- Strong organizational, project, and time management skills
- Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Experience using Google Analytics as a diagnostic tool for site performance and SEO
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications - Knowledge of JavaScript programming language, particularly jQuery
- Familiarity with PHP programming
- Familiarity with SiteImprove as diagnostic tool for site performance

Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
