Job Description

We are seeking part-time tutors with availability in at least some of the hours from 12-4, M-Th, to develop student's skills in phonics, fluency, reading comprehension and math.

Candidates must be caring, qualified, and committed to the success of students. Certified or retired teachers preferred, BA required or in process.

Since 1977 Huntington Learning Centers have helped meet students’ specific and unique learning needs. The result is significant gains in learning, as well as gains in confidence and motivation. Students begin with a comprehensive diagnostic academic evaluation and Huntington develops a unique curriculum plan based on the evaluation findings and the family’s goals. Then tutors guide students through this plan, methodically building each student's academic skills.

At the Lake Nona Huntington Learning Center we tutor children from age 5 through college in reading, writing, mathematics, study skills, phonics, vocabulary, science, test prep, high school entrance examinations, and SAT/PSAT and ACT preparation.

Every tutor at HLC-Lake Nona is a qualified, caring, and dedicated professional, interested in tutoring here because they love helping students succeed. Our tutors are required to go through intensive initial and ongoing training in Huntington teaching methods and our highly developed curriculum. Training is paid.

Pay is $15-20/hour, depending on skills and experience.
Dress is professional, business casual attire: khaki slacks and a button down.

Security/background check will be run.

Specifically looking for availability from 12-4, M-Th.
Also, part-time opportunities afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays, holidays, and summers:

• M-Th, 12-8.
• Friday, 5-7.
• Saturday, 10-2.

Location is 13848 Narcoossee Road, No. 106., Orlando FL, in the Lake Nona/Eagle Creek Publix Shopping Center.

Skills:

• Experience working in a classroom setting or providing instruction to individual or multiple students.
• Ability to engage and educate students of all ages and backgrounds; patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
• Flexibility and adaptability in adjusting teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, other tutors, and staff.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one tutoring in early reading skills, and various subjects and grade levels, for multiple students, by implementing their individualized Huntington lesson plans.
• Assess and document student performance and progress with specific comments for each lesson.
• Suggest adaptations to individualized lesson plan based on observations of each student's needs and learning style; provide to staff.
• Collaborate with other tutors and staff to ensure student success.
• Create a positive and encouraging learning environment.
• Use effective classroom management techniques to promote a productive learning environment.
