Position: Sterile Processing Technician CWR
Location: Manahawkin, NJ (Postal Code: 08050)
Hours per Week: 40
Hours per Day: 8
Days per Week: 5
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (No weekend or holiday requirements, but preferred. No on-call requirement, but flexibility to float to earlier shifts may apply.)

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure they are safe and ready for patient care. This position also involves preparing case carts for the Operating Room, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining proper documentation. The technician must utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sterilize and process patient care equipment and surgical instruments as per departmental policies.
• Safely operate sterilization equipment (Steam, ETO, Sterrad, Steris) and ensure biological and Bowie Dick tests are properly performed.
• Complete accurate sterilization records and ensure proper labeling and tracking of all items processed.
• Assemble case carts for surgeries, using physician preference cards to include necessary instruments, drugs, and special equipment.
• Address any missing items or equipment shortages by notifying the nursing team and communicating with the coordinator.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace to ensure optimal safety and productivity.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 60 lbs. as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in sterile processing, instrument processing, or a related field within an acute care environment.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications: Required National Certification (CRCST or CBSPD).
• Skills: Knowledge of sterilization techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be available for the scheduled shift and prioritize this role over other commitments.
• Flexibility to float to different shifts as needed is preferred.
