Summary of Role/Position As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be entrusted with ownership of the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of our Carparts.com ecommerce web applications and technology initiatives. Your role is pivotal in driving engineering solutions, leveraging your technical expertise to mentor engineers, actively engage in hands-on technical tasks, and provide leadership on complex technology issues when necessary. This position carries the responsibility of ensuring the successful execution and delivery of customer experience enhancements in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, TPMs, and Marketing teams, while adhering to specific project milestones. Your contributions will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our eCommerce modernization initiatives and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. YOU WILL:
  • Demonstrate deep and extensive technical knowledge to guide and mentor engineering teams. Undertake hands-on technical work and provide leadership in resolving complex technology challenges.
  • Ensure the efficient execution and timely delivery of customer experience enhancements by working closely with cross-functional teams and aligning efforts with specific project milestones.
    • Lead team discussions and participate in scoping new projects and features as directed by the Product Team. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives and requirements.
    • Experience and knowledge in AGILE Development Processes, including Kanban, SCRUM, Retrospective, Sprint Planning, and other relevant methodologies, to drive efficient project execution.
    • Actively engage with relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, fostering collaboration and coordination to achieve end-to-end project delivery as needed.
    • Provide regular updates on the status and progress of projects managed by the team, keeping all relevant parties informed.
    • Ensure that features slated for Production release undergo rigorous testing and vetting in development and staging environments to maintain high-quality standards.
    • Participate in incident management calls and discussions, contributing to swift issue resolution and minimizing downtime.
    • Equip team members with the knowledge and skills required for the successful execution of their respective projects, keeping them up to date with the latest industry technologies.
    YOU MUST HAVE:
    • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, React, Node, Express, Webpack, and TypeScript etc.,
    • 3+ years of experience in front-end development using modern web development, including serverless UI architecture.
    • Familiarity with advanced JavaScript features using ES7/ES2021 and a solid understanding of HTML and CSS Frameworks.
    • Strong understanding of web-page performance improvement techniques such as code splitting, lazy loading, and server-side rendering, etc.,
    • Experience with web page profiling and optimization tools like Lighthouse and Chrome Dev Tools, including improving Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of code quality standards and automation testing libraries like RTL/Cypress Testing Frameworks.
    • Experience with plan, develop, test, and deploy modern UI apps from the ground up.
    • Experience with Git, Jenkins CI/CD to deploy onto AWS/GCP/Azure Cloud Platforms.
    • Extensive knowledge in using troubleshooting tools, i.e., New Relic, Splunk, Google Analytics, among others, and in understanding and interpreting such metrics.
    • Familiarity with micro-frontend (MFE) Framework and module federation concepts to build maintainable, scalable applications.
    • Next.js apps development experience with Static Site Generation (SSG) and Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) preferred.
    • Knowledgeable on scalable software design and micro-services, event-driven system architecture.
    • Experience with Content Management Systems (Headless) is preferable.
    • Experience coordinating & building consensus with multiple stakeholders and peers, including off-site/remote.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and in-depth technical knowledge and expertise in software development and engineering.
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent related industry experience.
    • Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or technical leadership role.
    • Strong track record of successful project delivery, emphasizing results orientation and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional teamwork.
    • Demonstrates strong business and technical acumen and maintains high standards, continuously seeking improvement.
    A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position based on job experience, education level, global geographic region, etc: $140,000-$200,000 CarParts.com is an equal-opportunity employer.
