D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Region Paralegal . The right candidate will support the Mid-Atlantic Region legal team in managing responsibilities of the legal department with an emphasis on land acquisition. The position will report directly to Region Counsel, working closely with other members of the legal team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Mid-Atlantic Region legal team in managing responsibilities of the legal department, to include operations within six states (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia)
  • Assist the department in managing and coordinating contract review and approval for real estate acquisition agreements, leases and other real estate related documents
  • Manage the department's contract review calendar and related files daily
  • Prepare and maintain database of Region's transactional, environmental and land use counsel
  • Prepare and maintain database of contractor's licenses and broker licenses for all Divisions within the Region
  • Prepare and maintain lease database for Region and Division offices
  • Coordinate approval of environmental assessment work
  • Coordinate with outside counsel and title companies to obtain original title insurance policies and other closing documents
  • Assist the department in managing a forms database
  • Under the guidance of Region Counsel, review marketing programs and materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Prepare various reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Assist Region Counsel with special projects, as needed
  • Demonstrate an ability to meet strict deadlines with multiple projects while maintaining organized project files
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to work overtime, if needed based on the collective workload and impending deadlines
  • Regular and reliable "in person" attendance
  • Store and manage project files
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or paralegal certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Highly organized with ability to keep track of multiple transactions
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including E-mail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
  • The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Three (3) or more years of real estate transactional experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
