Job Description

The duration of this temporary role is approximately seven months; subject to change. Please note: this is a hybrid role; must be able to work on-site at Mission Bay location and in Oakland.

The Project Policy Analyst 2 serves as program coordinator for portfolio of awards in the field of HIV, mental health, substance use disorders, and marginalized diverse populations. Involves analytical studies on a variety of policies, projects, programs and issues in support of a function, research initiative, program and / or organizational unit, or in research of new or changing systems and programs. Assists in policy and program planning, development, administration, management and implementation; interprets, monitors and analyzes information regarding policies and procedures and provides consultative services to department administrators and other stakeholders. Involves oversight and coordination of research grant programs, including program development, planning and evaluation, peer review and applicant relations, grant application and award management, and synthesis and dissemination of research findings. Conducts outreach with marginalized populations and provides leadership over outreach team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply professional or research concepts

    • Perform data and systems analysis for moderately complex projects, policies, initiatives, processes, and functions
    • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality
    • Follow research protocols and standard operating procedures to maintain study integrity and data reliability
  • Gather and assemble data for reports and analyses

    • Collect analytical and factual data on assigned issues
    • Summarize information for internal or external constituents
    • Comment on the significance of data for stakeholders
  • Provide analytical support for various functions

    • Support function, research initiative, program, or organizational unit with analytical duties
  • Assist in research analysis and data entry

    • Analyze and interpret research findings
    • Enter data into databases and conduct regular data quality checks
  • Contribute to preparation of research materials

    • Prepare IRB applications and modifications
    • Edit and modify research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for conferences and publications
  • Collect and prepare information for meetings

    • Use subject matter knowledge to gather information for discussions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct analytical studies on project basis

    • Perform studies on policies, research initiatives, programs, and issues relevant to the project
  • Manage day-to-day project operations

    • Coordinate program planning and collaborate with project staff
    • Work with research team members, including principal investigators, co-investigators, and graduate students
  • Participate in program planning and development

    • Engage in administrative, research policy, and project planning
    • Provide recommendations and guidelines on programs and initiatives
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach

    • Create outreach materials and communicate with participants and community partners
    • Help plan outreach events
  • Assist with surveys and data analysis

    • Support survey creation and editing in Qualtrics, Redcap, etc.
    • Conduct data analysis tasks, including coding, qualitative analysis, and manuscript preparation
