Job Summary: Under the direction of the Parks Foreman, assists with parks maintenance needs including the upkeep of facilities and properties managed by the Parks Division to include maintenance, landscaping, and sports field management. Must be available for occasional evening and weekend shifts during peak season and special events. Major Responsibilities: Participates in turf maintenance activities, including mowing, seeding, sodding, fertilizing, aerating, irrigating, and pesticide application. Participates in the installation and maintenance of the irrigation system Operates equipment, including string trimmers, edger, chainsaw, push mower, zero turn mower, pole saw, pressure washer and truck. Plants trees; installs landscaping Removes weeds from landscape beds, sidewalks and tree wells, including trimming shrubs, pruning trees, and pulling weeds out of flowerbeds. Removes leaves; collects trash Oversees the work of community service and/or seasonal workers as assigned Maintains and repairs park buildings Cleans restrooms and public facilities Moves furniture; sets up tables and chairs Cleans, maintains, and repairs playground equipment Maintains and cleans splash pad equipment Participates in concrete pours in the construction of projects. Debris removal from Highway corridor and underpasses. Assists in seasonal decoration of select properties. Rotating on call for weekends and evenings for work and call outs. Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as required. Minimum Qualifications Required Knowledge: High school graduate or GED Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years Possession of a valid Class D drivers license issued by the State of Oklahoma Knowledge of relevant city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies Knowledge of turf grass maintenance and care Knowledge of building maintenance principles and procedures Knowledge of the planting and care of trees and landscaping Skill in the operation of a riding lawnmower and other small engine equipment Skill in the operation of turf grass equipment Skill in oral and written communication Ability to perform basic mathematical functions Knowledge of Tractor work with attachments Material handler, aerator, tiller, Brush hog.
