Job Description

Motion Graphics Artists give life to critical UI features for Riot Games products. Your technical and creative skills will combine to transform static images into temporal works of art that elevate the player’s experience. 

As a Motion Graphics Artist , you will report to the Major Projects Art Director, and work alongside art and product leads to bring new Teamfight Tactics’ features to life. Motion artists operate at the intersection of art and tech through collaboration with visual designers, game designers, audio designers, and engineers. You will work as a key contributor on various product features that span both the in-game and around-game spaces. You will design eye-catching transitions and interactive states that reinforce an established motion language, expanding / evolving that language when necessary.

Motion Graphics Artists are able to translate their vision into real-time executions by working directly in game engine tools where they pay close attention to the balance of aesthetics, functionality, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Create UI animatics out of static visual designs to demonstrate your vision
• Follow the Teamfight Tactics quality, style and motion conventions
• Work in our proprietary tools to bring your motion designs directly into the UI of the player experience
• Implement motion with efficiency in mind, carefully balancing performance and visual quality for our wide range of supported devices
• Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of UX, Audio, Visual Design and Engineering experts
• Assist team leads by participating in planning / scoping rituals
• Participate in the motion graphics Communities of Practice at Riot to further establish your craft and level up the discipline

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience working in the UI space for games or interactive / real-time media
• Portfolio demonstrating experience in creating motion graphics for UI: celebrations, design systems, notifications, HUDs, interactive states, screen transitions etc
• Mastery in Adobe Suite (After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Well-versed with VFX / particle plugins: Trapcode Suite, xparticles, etc
• Strong understanding of version control tools and game dev workflow / pipelines
• Knowledge of best practices for optimized motion implementation in real-time applications 

Desired Qualifications

• Experience implementing UI motion in a modern game engine like Unreal / Unity
• Experience in Figma
• Knowledge of League of Legends / Teamfight Tactics IP and style
• Experience in 3D modeling / animation (Maya, 3DSMax, Cinema 4D, or Blender)

These duties are directly related to essential operations, safety, trust, and compliance obligations within our organization. • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $109,200.00 - $153,300.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
