Position Summary We are currently recruiting for a Medical Records Clerk. This full-time position pays $26.59/hr, and is located in Cranston, RI.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Track the daily patient census.
- Monitoring active unit patient chart.
- Prepare and organize admission charts and paperwork for new patients.
- Close and finalize patient records upon discharge
- Send closed records to iron mountain (storage).
- Fill legal, medical examiner, social service and disability determination services requests (DDS).
- Conduct monthly purges of patient charts on units.
- File and maintain patient forms and records
- Take patient photographs and produce patient ID bands.
- Request supplies for office.
- Perform data entry tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities - Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
- Experience with EHR systems for admissions/discharges.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage physical records and meet daily/weekly deadlines.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledgeable in operating copy machines.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible.
- Highly motivated.
Education And Experience - High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field, preferred.
- 1–2 years in health information management or medical records.
Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Working hours M-F, 8:00am-3:30pm.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
