Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is a full-time position that oversees the general upkeep of the buildings and their infrastructure. The ideal candidate will maintain building operations and ensure the facilities are always safe and functional. Responsibilities include routine and preventive maintenance tasks and basic fixes to equipment and building systems for all parish buildings and grounds to ensure facilities are secure, tidy, and functional. The technician will respond to emergency repairs to prevent and resolve safety or comfort issues. The ideal candidate's skills will encompass a wide range of practical abilities including:

1. Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and roofing.
2. Basic equipment preventative maintenance and inspections.
3. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for resolving maintenance issues.
4. Administrative skills for ordering supplies, handling records, and scheduling maintenance
5. Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move, and handle equipment.
6. Stamina to deal with long hours of standing or walking
7. Strong verbal and written communication for discussing maintenance issues
8. Ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions.
9. Organizational and time management skills
10. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
11. Provide excellent customer service to parish members and address their maintenance concerns or inquiries.

Experience: Proven experience in performing maintenance duties in a commercial or residential setting. Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Proficient in tracking maintenance activities. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues effectively. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others.
