Maintenance & Electrical Technician

  • Full-Time.
  • Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 4:30 pm (Mon-Fri).
  • Hourly rate : $36.00 - $42.00.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance & Electrical Technician with a high degree of technical aptitude and a strong ability to learn, troubleshoot, and repair plant production equipment. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, follow direction, and apply problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of production systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with basic math proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Experience with repairing and re-wiring high-speed and automated equipment—including AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules—is highly desirable. The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics is preferred.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs repairs, installations, and PMs on all plant production equipment.
  • Performs repairs and installations on all plant air conditioning systems.
  • Completes preventive maintenance as assigned.
  • Performs equipment inspections to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Communicates repair functions with production supervisors.
  • Identifies and communicates safety hazards and quality deficiencies to maintenance management.
  • Operates a forklift and/or pallet jack as needed to perform job functions.
  • Knows and complies with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Clean-up as required including, but not limited to, sweeping, washing, painting, trash removal, and pick-up.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Occasional assistance with production needs.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Troubleshooting skills, locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high degree of technical aptitude and skill to learn the function and repair of plant production equipment.
  • Self-starter able to take direction and problem-solve to repair and maintain plant production equipment and systems.
  • Good written and verbal skills with basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to fix and re-wire high-speed and/or highly automated equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics preferred.


EDUCATION:

  • High School or equivalent preferred.
  • Formal training in one or more of the following: General Industrial Maintenance, Hydraulics, Industrial Electrical Systems, PLC Programming, Industrial Refrigeration, Compressors, Pneumatic a plus.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years' experience in a production/manufacturing environment working in a Maintenance & Electrical Technician capacity.
  • Mechanical experience needed for stationary machinery. Electrical experience a plus.
