Job Description

Description of the role: The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in various settings. They will work under the guidance of a Master Electrician, ensuring that all projects are completed safely and to code. Responsibilities:

  • Install electrical systems and components, including wiring, lighting fixtures, and circuit breakers
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems
  • Conduct inspections to identify issues and suggest necessary repairs or upgrades
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as architects and plumbers, to ensure efficient project completion
  • Able to work within job schedule and plan ahead for material and labor needs
Requirements:
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license
  • Prior experience as a Journeyman Electrician
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and codes
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the job

REQUIREMENTS BASED ON EXPERIENCE

Below are the job requirements for each level of experience. Level 1 Apprentice Will require 0-1 years of experience with minimal knowledge of job descriptions and expectations. This will require the ability to understand, learn and apply oneself to the daily task and the ability to learn. Required to have basic tools to perform duties. Level 2 Apprentice Will require 1-2 years’ experience with basic understanding of the electrical industry. Employees will understand basic safety requirements, day-to-day operations, ability to clock in and clock out without notice, ability to take daily instruction and responsibilities for the day. Must be willing to take initiative to learn and better themselves. Level 3 Apprentice Will require 3-4 years of experience mixed with residential and commercial. Employees will be expected to have full understanding of safety. Must be able to manage task flows and complete them with minimal supervision. Must be efficient in day-to-day activities. Must have a complete understanding of materials and their uses. Should be able to run branch circuits, conduits and branch wiring as directed. Level 4 Apprentice Will require 5+ years’ experience. At this point I expect a license for a Journeymen. You will be paid as a helper until a Journeymen’s license has been acquired. Your knowledge of the electrical industry should be solid. The ability to run as a second crew and lead should be there and understanding of the drawings for the job should be there. Safety concerns should be understood fully. Journeyman (Super Intendent) Will require 5-6 years’ experience. The pay will be dependent on the ability to manage a job as well as the ability to maintain workflow. You will be responsible for communicating to your project manager the progress of the job and any concerns that have arisen. Your job duties will be managing safety throughout the job, managing labor, communicating daily with the GC’s superintendent. Should be goal-oriented and able to keep up with the contractor’s schedule. Should have basic trouble shooting skills and problem-solving skills. Should be able to make low level daily decisions. We should have a 100% complete understanding of the plans as well as how to do the job. Must be able to coordinate with other trades. Journeyman (PM-1) Level 1 PM should be able to run one job at a time and deal with the onsite journeyman. Communication with our supervisor as well as the GC’s is key. Should be able to communicate all questions with the GC/Owner. In addition, be able to make decisions, troubleshoot problems, and come up with cost effective solutions. Journeyman (PM-2) Responsible for performing the same duties as the PM-1 as well as running multiple projects, communicating with the PM’s of the GC’s. Responsible for scheduling and communicating with employees. Responsible for maintaining profitability in jobs and making necessary changes when necessary. Responsible with full knowledge of job loss/profit reports as well as WIP reports. In addition, submittals for the project and communications with the GC.

PAY SCALE PER THE ABOVE LISTED POSITIONS

Apprentice Level 1 : $16-19.00 Apprentice Level 2 : $18-21.00 Apprentice Level 3 : $21.50-23.00 Apprentice Level 4 : $23.50-26.00 Journeyman SI : $29-33.00 Journeyman PM-1 : $34-36.00 Journeyman PM-2 : $38-45.00 The above is the requirement for each pay scale level. Please, choose the level you are interviewing for and qualifying for today. If the level of performance does not meet these requirements there will be a pay cut to the next level below and a position reduction. At that time if you still cannot perform your job duties you will be terminated.
