The Role

You’ll play a key role in refining 3D models, building prototypes, and ensuring that project milestones are met. From collaborating with designers to coordinating across teams, you’ll gain hands-on experience in both design and project management. You’ll also help maintain strong relationships with our manufacturing partners, troubleshoot production challenges, and keep projects running smoothly from concept to completion. With your blend of technical skills and creative problem-solving, you’ll help bring Craighill’s innovative products to life.

 

Essential Functions

 

Design Studio and Workshop Management

  • Maintain the material and sample library in a clear and organized manner-including all raw materials, finishes and packaging
  • Maintain iterations of design files (3D files, specs, packaging, sample reports, etc.) and verify up-to-date versions in all instances
  • Build and maintain a vendor database documenting services, materials, strengths, weaknesses, location, lead times, contact information, and other relevant details
  • Ensure samples and 3D prints are photographed and the files are
    organized appropriately in Dropbox
  • Organize and maintain sample purchase orders
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop

 

Product Design & Development

  • Assist in creating and refining design concepts, sketches, and 3D models for new products.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and collaborate on design iterations.
  • Support the development of prototypes using various tools (3D printer, laser cutter, modeling clay) and assist with product testing.
  • Work closely with the senior Industrial Designer to ensure designs are both innovative and feasible for manufacturing.
  • Maintain iterations of design files (3D files, specs, packaging, sample reports) and ensure the latest versions are available across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and production teams to refine products for market readiness.
  • Help identify new manufacturing partners, maintain relationships with existing partners, and troubleshoot production and costing bottlenecks.
  • Ensure samples and 3D prints are photographed and organized appropriately in Dropbox.
  • Build and maintain a vendor database documenting services, materials,
    strengths, weaknesses, location, lead times, and contact information.
  • Organize and maintain sample purchase orders to track materials and progress through the development stages.

 

Cross-Departmental Communication

  • Work closely with the Sales Team to understand critical sample deadlines for press features, holidays, and tradeshows, ensuring that product samples and materials are delivered on time.
  • Ensure the Design Team responds promptly to technical questions from internal departments, particularly Sales and Customer Service, to facilitate smooth communication and accurate information sharing.
  • Facilitate the handoff of all production files, including technical specifications and design details, to the Production Team, ensuring they have the necessary resources for a smooth production process.
  • Assist the Production Team with initial production orders for new products, ensuring all requirements are met and troubleshooting any early-stage issues that may arise.
  • Provide timely and accurate technical product information to the Customer Service Team to help them address inquiries and resolve customer issues.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to ensure designs align with promotional timelines and brand messaging, while coordinating product launches.
  • Maintain clear lines of communication with all teams to track progress and resolve any bottlenecks during the product development process.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field 1-3 years of experience in design internships, co-op programs, or junior design/project management roles.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., Fusion 360, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving and creative thinking.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience with prototyping or manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) is a plus.

$55 - 65K annually, depending on experience
