The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN delivers direct patient care within the scope of practice and maintains the highest standards of clinical and regulatory compliance. The role includes collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members to manage complex patient conditions and ensure optimal outcomes. The RN may float to other units within scope, including the Emergency Department (for ICU holds), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical units, as needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct and continuous nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with established policies and clinical standards.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patient condition, including hemodynamic parameters and diagnostic results.
Administer medications and perform procedures within the RN scope of practice.
Respond promptly and accurately to emergencies and changes in patient status.
Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
Provide patient and family education regarding care, treatment, and recovery.
Support team coordination by floating to other applicable units as assigned.
Current and valid California RN License .
Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintained.
Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in an acute care hospital.
NIHSS certification required.
PALS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire if assigned to units admitting pediatric patients.
BSN preferred; RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred.
Per Diem; Night shift: 1900 0730 .
May float to ED, Telemetry, or Med/Surg units within scope based on departmental needs.
