Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Reno, Nevada is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
• Course Maintenance & Agronomy:
o Develop and implement agronomic plans, including fertilization, pesticide application, and cultural practices to ensure healthy turfgrass and optimal playing conditions year-round.
o Manage all aspects of golf course maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, practice areas, and landscaped areas.
• Irrigation System Oversight:
o Supervise and assist with the maintenance, repair, and programming of the irrigation system, ensuring efficient water use in alignment with environmental and regulatory standards.
• Leadership & Team Management:
o Recruit, train, and manage maintenance staff, including the assistant superintendent and grounds crew.
o Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and effective operations.
o Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Budget & Resource Management:
o Develop and manage the golf course maintenance budget.
o Source and procure equipment, chemicals, and supplies within budget constraints.
o Report hours worked by maintenance staff
• Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to pesticide application, water use, and workplace safety.
o Maintain accurate records of pesticide applications, water usage, and other regulated activities.
Requirements:
Must be a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) through the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent at a similar facility.
Extensive knowledge of agronomic practices and turf management, with experience managing high-traffic golf courses in challenging climates.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
Proficiency in irrigation system programming, troubleshooting, and repair. Rainbird experience a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation:
$85,000 – $90,000 per year.
