Entry Level Heat Treat associate

Primary Purpose:
We are hiring for entry level heat treat associates that will perform a variety of tasks necessary for the preparation of parts prior to and subsequent to the heat-treating process. Qualified candidates applying to this role will have the opportunity to discuss specific roles they are interested in and qualified for. CPP-Steel Treaters is a heat treatment facility for the Aircraft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry and is located in Oriskany, NY .

CANDIDATES OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ARE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST & BACKGROUND STUDY PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT

What You'll Be Doing:
  • You could maneuvering the parts via forklift, stage the parts prior to heat treating (special handling or stringing, painting, etc.).
  • You could be processing loads with little supervision at least two of the most frequently used furnaces at the site which are largely repetitive and where operational procedures are standardized.
  • You could be Operating heat-treat furnaces, monitoring the heating cycle, is capable of answering alarms and clearing the condition causing those alarms as appropriate.
  • You could be remove parts from the furnace; immerse them in a chemical, water, brine or an oil bath for quenching.
  • You could be using state of the art automation robots to assemble molds, and prepare them for the casting process.
  • You could be using drive a truck and/or operate specialized equipment such as an induction heating furnace.
  • Throughout our process you could be using measuring instruments to insure customer requests for dimensional accuracy – straightness, roundness and hardness. (Micrometer, dial indicator, rulers, etc.) This means they will be able to properly read, understand and interpret the
    charts involved, and follow the proper procedures for using the equipment involved to obtain accurate measures.
  • You will also be in a team environment so collaboration, multitasking, and providing guidance to colleagues at times will be required.
  • Most importantly you will need to adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: No prior experience required as we provide training, but prior manufacturing or mechanical experience is a plus!
  • Computer skills: Basic computer skills are needed
  • Certifications/Licenses: Forklift license is a plus, but not required
  • Language skills : Ability to read, understand, and comprehend documents. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, and leadership. 
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to use basic gages and measuring devices. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and diagram form.
  • The ability to be reliable , work overtime as needed, and be committed to working at our Chittenango, NY facility.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The physical effort applied in this job includes lifting, pulling, reaching, manipulating, carrying, pushing, or shoveling.
  • Manufacturing requires repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
