Job Title: Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Specialist II
Location : Joplin, MO
Department : Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS)
Reports To : Senior EHS Manager

About the Role

The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) across multiple sites. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining EHS programs, and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of EHS protocols and will work closely with leadership to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior EHS Manager to implement and manage safety compliance programs.
• Promote and cultivate a safety-oriented culture throughout the organization.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental and safety regulations while maintaining necessary reporting requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain written EHS programs and policies.
• Conduct and assist with EHS training for all facility personnel, including New Hire Safety Orientation.
• Lead the Safety Committee and facilitate discussions on workplace safety improvements.
• Conduct risk assessments related to job functions and operational processes.
• Maintain all EHS recordkeeping to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with worker's compensation case management and injury reporting.
• Perform detailed incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and provide actionable recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Respond to emergency situations, providing first aid treatment as necessary.
• Support the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and coordinate fire, medical, and shelter-in-place drills.
• Assist in meeting EPA/RCRA environmental standards.
• Support Industrial Hygiene efforts, including respiratory program maintenance, noise mapping, ergonomic evaluations, and collaboration with Industrial Hygiene Consultants.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT regulations.
• Proficiency in worker's compensation management.
• Strong computer skills and ability to manage EHS documentation effectively.
• Must be a U.S. Person (due to regulatory compliance requirements).

Preferred :

• Certifications in HAZWOPER, Root Cause Analysis, RCRA, DOT, and OSHA.
• First Aid & CPR Instructor certification.
• Experience with Industrial Hygiene processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
