Job Description

DEPARTMENT:  Retail Store 

REPORTS TO:  Store Manager 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt 

POSITION TYPE:  Full-Time 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Department Managers are responsible for driving company objectives in profit and loss control, sales performance, customer satisfaction, and shrink results. Developing and leading a great team while increasing sales and profits of your assigned area will be the most important part of your job. Your hands-on leadership and management expertise will allow our organization to grow. This job is composed of a variety of tasks that are covered by general operating procedures but will also require extensive individual judgment to ensure successful operation of your area of the store. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all policies and procedures regarding the sale of firearms
  2. Drive sales and profitability through customer satisfaction
  3. Ensure all planograms are executed
  4. Ensure all merchandise is properly priced, displayed and stocked according to appropriate inventory levels
  5. Supervise, train, and develop staff in all functions required to run your assigned area
  6. Ensure all employees provide outstanding customer service to satisfy customer needs
  7. Be familiar with and enforce all policies and procedures
  8. Oversee assigned area through effective delegation and management of work, employees, time, and resources
  9. Maintain working knowledge of products and services
  10. May operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading, unloading, or moving merchandise and materials
  11. Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers
  12. Promptly handle any customer complaints, questions, or concerns in a professional and friendly manner
  13. Additional duties, as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. You must be 21 years of age and have an up-to-date Firearm Owners Identification "FOID" card to be considered for this position
  2. Knowledge of hunting and fishing is preferred
  3. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and procedures relative to the sale of firearms is essential
  4. 3-4 years of retail experience
  5. Retail Management experience is preferred
  6. Flexibility to work any open store hours
  7. Strong communication and leadership skills
  8. Highly motivated leader capable of motivating others to achieve company goals
  9. Excellent Customer Service skills
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication
  11. Must possess strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  12. Basic computer skills
  13. Highly organized and detail-oriented
  14. Ability to:
    • Multi-task, coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
    • Effectively communicate with customers, in-person and over the phone
    • Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position
    • Prioritize, accurately multi-task, adhere to deadlines, and learn in a fast paced environment.
