Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract

Reporting To: Beverage Manager / Restaurant Supervisor

Description

As a Barista onboard, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality coffee and beverage service to our guests, ensuring an exceptional experience in every cup. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be part of a diverse team that ensures our guests have an unforgettable vacation experience.

1. Coffee & Beverage Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and other specialty drinks, to guests according to established recipes and standards.; Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment.; Stay updated on coffee trends and offer suggestions to enhance the beverage menu.;

2. Guest Service:

Greet guests warmly, take orders, and provide knowledgeable recommendations based on their preferences.; Ensure prompt, efficient, and courteous service at all times.; Handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating to the Beverage Manager or Beverage Supervisor when necessary.;

3. Quality Control:

Monitor the quality of beverages served, ensuring consistency and adherence to company standards.; Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area, including the coffee station, counters, and seating areas.; Conduct regular checks of equipment to ensure proper functioning, reporting any issues to maintenance.;

4. Inventory & Stock Management:

Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking coffee supplies, syrups, and other necessary items.; Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.;

5. Health & Safety Compliance:

Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper handling of food and beverages.; Ensure that all beverages are prepared and served in a manner consistent with hygiene and food safety regulations.;

6. Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other baristas, café staff, and team members across the Food & Beverage department to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.; Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay informed about new products, promotions, and procedures.; Qualifications

Experience:

Previous experience as a barista in a high-volume café, restaurant, or hotel environment is required.; Experience working on a cruise ship or in a similar hospitality environment is a plus.;

Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso machines, and beverage preparation.; Excellent customer service and communication skills.; Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.; Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.; Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.;

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.; Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as coffee bags and equipment.; Must be able to work in a confined space and adjust to a shipboard environment.;

Working Conditions:

Must be willing to live and work on board a cruise ship for extended periods.; Flexible schedule, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays.; Ability to stand for extended periods and manage a physically active role.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.;
