Job Summary
The Audiovisual Engineer II provides technical expertise for the audiovisual (AV) design of complex classrooms, complex meeting rooms, and event spaces. The position designs, installs, supports, and provides technical troubleshooting for all AV equipment with emphasis on complex spaces. The position partners with athletics and events colleagues to determine technical needs related to broadcasting and livestreaming. The Audiovisual Engineer II is responsible for resource management, project management, and vendor management. The position provides technical leadership to junior staff, serving as a mentor. The position builds and maintains relationships with colleagues across the campus. The position stays abreast of best practices, standards, and audiovisual research related to supporting events.
The position may work non-standard hours and is subject to an on-call schedule.
Responsibilities
Develop and recommend audiovisual standards, lifecycle replacement strategies, and proactive support strategies for complex spaces to Information Technology (IT) leadership. Ensure that the total cost of ownership is considered.
Research, evaluate and test audiovisual equipment and systems to inform strategies and standards.
Provide technical support for events; act as the primary technical resource ensuring that audiovisual equipment and systems are operational. Serve as a trusted technical resource for event and athletics staff.
Oversee all incident and service requests related to audiovisual equipment and systems; advise and mentor junior staff on troubleshooting and resolution. Ensure that solutions are documented using IT service management (ITSM) best practices.
Guide vendors in the development of proposals for equipment and services procurement. Clearly articulate expectations to ensure that equipment and services meet audiovisual standards. Manage all aspects of the vendor relationship including holding them accountable for work completed and adherence to warranty and support agreements.
Design and install new audiovisual systems collaborating with stakeholders and vendors as needed. Ensure that consultations with stakeholders maintain a focus on standards.\
Engage in the daily management of projects ensuring that all trades and campus colleagues are coordinated to ensure timely completion of projects.
Develop and maintain resource/inventory management processes, procedures, and systems for audiovisual equipment and systems.

Required Qualifications
4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Audiovisual licenses/certifications from vendors such as Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP), and Q-SYS Control 101.
Demonstrated experience with programming audiovisual control systems.
Experience supporting events.
Preferred Qualifications
Avixa CTS certification; preference for CTS-I or CTS-D.
Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshooting audiovisual control systems such as Crestron or Extron.
Experience supporting live streaming/broadcast of events such as athletics or commencement ceremonies.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to read, interpret, and draft CAD drawings for AV installations.
Demonstrated knowledge of audiovisual and multimedia applications including control systems, projection systems, sound, video, control systems, and cameras with emphasis on their use in event/arena spaces.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
