Requirements The Center for Security and Emerging Technology at Georgetown University (CSET) is a research organization focused on studying the security impacts of emerging technologies, supporting academic work in security and technology studies, and delivering nonpartisan analysis to technologists and policymakers. CSET currently focuses on artificial intelligence, advanced computing and biotechnology.
The
Associate Director of Analysis helps to manage the Analysis Team across a range of functions, including project management and quality control, people management and mentorship, and research, analysis and writing. The ideal candidate will seamlessly blend research leadership, team management, and organizational strategy to advance CSET's mission and impact.
The Associate Director of Analysis will report to CSET's Director of Analysis and has duties that include, but are not limited to:
- Uphold CSET's mission, values, and culture with unwavering commitment, inspiring others through personal conduct.
- Monitor trends and developments in AI, ML, biotechnology, and national security policy, providing essential contextual insights to help inform research priorities.
- Lead, manage, and execute research projects and initiatives (both original and summary) in line with CSET strategic priorities.
- Support and provide oversight project management and quality control efforts, managing junior researchers.
- Support CSET's fundraising and development goals, co-authoring quick-turn policy memos and op-eds with the Executive Director.
- Contribute to CSET's organizational development, including internal working groups, seminars, and discussions.
- Develop and deliver (when appropriate) presentations and briefs that summarize Center findings, performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in policy making, policy research, and/or analysis roles
- 2+ years experience providing support to leadership with proven project management experience
- Experience at a think tank or university-affiliated research center
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks on deadline and with limited need for supervision and excellent multi-tasking, project prioritization, and time management skills
- Advanced Proficiency with office productivity tools like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Adobe Acrobat
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and editing skills with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on a wide variety of topics
- Ability to work successfully in a collaborative matrixed/multi-disciplinary environment
- Motivated, enthusiastic, intellectually curious and self-driven with alignment with CSET's mission, values and culture
- Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications - MA/MS or graduate coursework in a relevant field, such as Public Policy, National Security, or Political Science
- Experience in leadership and/or management roles
- Experience at a think tank or university-affiliated research center
- Experience directly managing full time employees
Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as

In general, the Associate Director of Analysis is expected to earn an annual starting salary between $115,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
