Roche Bros., Inc. (RBI), a leading firm in high-quality hardscape construction, is excited to announce an opening for an Assistant Foreman. This role is pivotal to our team based in Frederick and Montgomery County, MD, specializing in a variety of retaining wall installations alongside other hardscaping projects. This is a full-time position, ideal for candidates passionate about building their career in a hands-on construction environment. Please note, this position is onsite and not available for remote work.

As an Assistant Foreman, you will play a crucial role in ensuring project execution aligns with the high standards and reliable reputation that Roche Brothers has built over the years. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a variety of construction equipment including Skid Loaders, Excavators, Bulldozers, and Rollers necessary for the construction of retaining walls and other hardscaping projects.
  • Perform laborer duties when not operating equipment to assist with project completion.
  • Set accurate elevations using grade laser tools to ensure detail-oriented results.
  • Read, understand, and lay out work from construction drawings to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Execute challenging cuts and complex tasks required during on-site constructions, maintaining high quality and precision.
  • Enforce and uphold stringent safety standards to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Utilize the company truck for transportation of materials and other job-related needs, adhering to traffic and company regulations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operational effectiveness of all equipment under your supervision.
  • Communicate field issues and potential improvements effectively to supervisors to enable quick resolution and enhancement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of hardscaping experience, particularly with retaining walls, patios, walkways, and similar projects.
  • Proven skill and strong proficiency in the operation of construction equipment.
  • Demonstrable ability to interpret and execute plans and elevations from construction drawings.
  • Highly safety-conscious individual with a commitment to maintaining safety practices.
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities and strong communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is strongly preferred to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is a plus, facilitating better interaction and understanding among diverse team members.
